My husband and I stayed at Green River Bridge House, and we could not have been more pleased. The location is lovely, next to a river with a covered bridge and across from an old church that's only used now for special occasions. The inn has what is known as "duende" or a special quality that's apparent in everything--from Joan, the innkeeper's loving restoration of the house to become a bed and breakfast, to the wide expanse of stars at night visible behind the old church. Everything is spotless, and the rooms (we stayed in the Bridge Room) are very comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. Joan goes the extra mile to assure that guests feel welcome. With three guest rooms, visitors can easily feel at home, and we enjoyed delicious breakfasts together (prepared from scratch each morning by Joan) overlooking the backyard and river. If you want a peaceful, quiet spot, this is definitely a place to go. We also found it easy to drive to Marlboro College and Brattleboro. (If you're from a large city, don't be deterred by the dirt road before getting to the inn. It's kept in great shape, is a short part of the ride from Brattleboro, and you'll get used to going back and forth so quickly. Once you're at the inn, you'll be happy to be in the peaceful setting.) We can't wait to go back!
Absolutely lovely place for a weekend getaway - my boyfriend and I stayed here recently and have not stopped talking about it since we left. We stayed in the Sunrise Room which was absolutely adorable, not to mention completely spotless. The room was cozy, bed was extremely comfortable and there is even a jacuzzi in the room! At night we watched the stars from the balcony. Joan was a wonderful host and made sure our stay was nothing short of perfect. She even cooked us an INCREDIBLE breakfast in the morning! We had the most relaxing, romantic weekend here and cannot wait to come back.

My repeat visit to this charming B&B was just as enjoyable as my previous trip. The gracious & welcoming owner, Joan Seymour, has done a wonderful job creating an ideal respite for visitors. The facility is impeccably clean, tastefully decorated & in a perfect VT setting which makes this an ideal place for travelers. I agree with all the favorable comments from other visitors and highly recommend this B&B. Try it! You won't be disappointed.
P.S. Due to Joan's culinary skills, the breakfasts are wonderful!
We have stayed at many bed and breakfast homes over the past 30 years and Green River Bridge House is at the top of our list. We visited October 14-17, 2016 for a birthday celebration. The owner, Joan Seymour, was a wonderful, gracious hostess and she made us feel like we were at home. Every breakfast was unique and delicious. Joan did a painstaking, full restoration of the home to maintain the original & historic character of the house and grounds. The property is located on the Green River next to a restored, covered bridge. The home is cozy and inviting and each bedroom has a bathroom. We stayed in the Sunrise Room with a private deck and spectacular view of the garden, lawn and the Green River. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. There is a kitchenette in the hall with a fridge, coffee maker and microwave. This property is secluded but close to many small towns and attractions in Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The fall foliage was spectacular set against the clear blue sky and the crisp, fresh air. A perfect get-away to clear the mind and enlighten the soul. Thank you, Joan for your hospitality and detail to attention.
At the end of my hiking day, driving several miles on the scenic winding Stage Road (no longer Jacksonville Stage Road for the GPS!) to get to the GRBH was a little tiring, but it was SO WORTH IT!!! The GRBH is nestled in a tiny historic community right on the lovely Green River, complete with covered bridge. Joan was such a gracious hostess, her collection of pieces from around the world intriguing, and she gave me a very nice deal on the jacuzzi-with-private-balcony suite. To relax in the garden next to the flowing river in the evening was unforgettable, and the breakfast the next morning was very special with her exquisite china, and gourmet dishes. THANK YOU JOAN! If at all possible, I will return!!
